Donations needed to fund veteran Honor Flights

To the Editor:

Did you know there are veterans waiting in our county to go on their deserved Honor Flight to Washington, D.C.?

It costs about $600 per vet to cover their expenses – what a small price to pay for what they gave to us. Everyday we need to thank these men and women who were willing to give their all for our freedoms. This honor flight is an experience they richly deserve.

In contacting Brushy Creek Honor Flight, I have found that Hamilton County has sent 13 veterans but still have 17 on the list (and more if some haven’t registered). Hamilton County needs to raise $10,200 to cover these vets and to date only $3,000 has been donated. Unless the monies are donated for these vets they do not get to go – so I challenge every community, organization, citizen to come up with fundraising to honor these deserving Veterans. Monies can be sent to Brushy Creek Honor Flight; 320 S. 12th St; Ft Dodge, IA 50501; mark it as coming from Hamilton County.
