Community education session to discuss prediabetes
November is National Diabetes Awareness Month and this year’s focus is taking action to prevent diabetes health problems.
Van Diest Medical Center will offer a free community prediabetes education program from noon to 1 p.m. Friday, November 17, in the clinic board room, Van Diest Medical Center, 2350 Hospital Drive, Webster City.
More than eight in 10 adults with prediabetes are unaware they have the condition. With prediabetes, blood sugar levels are higher than normal but not high enough to be diagnosed as type 2 diabetes.
Those attending the class will learn about prediabetes, the risk factors for developing type 2 diabetes and interventions to help prevent type 2 diabetes.
Registration for the program is not required. For more information, call 515-832-7746.
