Officer Moab needs your help

The Webster City Police Department, more specifically Officer Moab, needs a helping paw with pup support.

Moab, who joined the WCPD in April 2022, works alongside Officer Brandon Pritchard to keep Webster City safe and help people in need, according to Webster City Police Chief Shiloh Mork.

“Since joining the WCPD Moab has located narcotics and paraphernalia on multiple deployments,” Mork said in a media release. “His presence alone has helped deter otherwise violent individuals from acting aggressive toward officers.”

While Officer Moab works to support his teammate, he also needs support, Mork said.

“Moab and the WCPD K9 Unit was started with the help of the community,” he said. “The Webster City Police Department would like to thank all the local individuals and businesses that donated and helped to bring back the K9 program to Webster City. Your generous donations have gone towards police K9 training expenses, equipment, supplies, dog food, and vehicle accessories in Moab’s first year with the department.”

Now the police department is looking for support to help this canine officer and the K9 Program. Donations can be submitted to the Webster City Police Department 24 hours a day, seven days a week. If you choose to donate, Mork asks that you clearly identify the donation as for Police K-9.

“That will ensure the donation goes directly towards the K9 Program and is not used for any other purpose,” Mork said.

“Moab and the Webster City Police Department rely on the generosity of the community to help offset operating costs with keeping Moab healthy, well-trained, equipped and maintaining the K9 Program,” Mork said.

In addition to serving the local police department, Mork said the K9 Unit has also been called out to assist other agencies and help search for missing persons.

“Moab is there for you when you need him,” Mork said, “but he needs your support too.”

Starting at $3.46/week.
