WC Chamber brings Streigle into the mix

Robin Streigle is the new event and office support person for the Webster City Area Chamber of Commerce.

When visitors walk into 628 Second Street in Webster City and ascend the steps, there’s a strong possibility that they will see a familiar face greeting them.

Recently, the Webster City Area Chamber of Commerce brought in Manning native and longtime town resident Robin Streigle as its event and office support.

Before joining Chamber Director Anna Woodward, Streigle worked for the Webster City Community School District as a substitute paraeducator and was the activity director at the Windsor Manor assisted living facility.

She’s the wife of Tony Striegle, the pastor at the Webster City Church of Christ. Streigle also has six children and one granddaughter.

“I grew up in small-town Iowa that had fabulous community support behind events and the school district,” said Striegle. “I want that same thing for Webster City. A place where people look at what they have to give to the community for the betterment of others.”

Market Nights, which originated last summer, was one of the driving forces that brought Streigle to the Chamber. Other factors included her being a people person, which goes hand in hand with her affection for working behind the scenes leading up to various events.

“I love meeting and working with others, and loved Market Nights last year,” Streigle said. “I am also very happy to be in the background planning events, getting to know the needs of members, and coming up with creative solutions.”

Due to her extensive experience in helping others, Streigle has some tools at her disposal.

“I am a unique problem-solver and think outside of the box. I am always looking for new ways to improve and am not scared to change things up if it will move things forward in a positive direction.”

There are some upcoming projects she will dive into this year. Most notable of these endeavors are Market Nights and JunqueFest, which is set for May 26 and May 27 at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds.

“I have been sourcing vendors for entertainment and food for JunqueFest and Market Nights,” Streigle said. “The early bird deadline is coming up for JunqueFest. So, I am working very hard to make sure everyone has an opportunity to get their registration in. I am also reaching out and looking for entertainment for the New Years’ Gala.”

Along with putting several operations in motion, Streigle has another project in mind.

“I have been working with Chamber President Mark Ferguson on the new Ambassador Program,” Streigle said. “That will be coming out very shortly. It will be an extension of the Chamber. Ambassadors will get the perk of doing all the fun stuff without the responsibilities of planning an event.”

New software is the third major task on her docket.

“It will be a huge benefit to our chamber members in the coming months,” said Streigle. “I am very thankful to be getting in on this at ground level. I am excited for the streamlined process and easy access for membership. Plus, it will save much needed time in the office.”

Other work that she is diving into is her participation in the Chamber’s strategic plan and assembling information for the Webster City Visitors Guide, which comes out this spring.

“It has been a very busy several weeks,” Streigle said. “However, I have learned much and am excited for what 2023 holds for Webster City, and how the Chamber can make an impact.”

Streigle also shared a glimpse of what future plans that both she and the Chamber could work on and accomplish.

“I am looking forward to spending time making Market Nights an even bigger event that has more children’s activities,” she said. “We also need something that caters toward all ages in our community.”

She welcomes ideas, and if you do have something formulating in your head for Market Nights, you can contact her via email at robin@visitwebstercityiowa.com.

“I would love to talk to you and see how we can work together to make it happen,” she said. “I am hopeful I can get some more hands-on activities incorporated into each event that the Chamber puts on throughout the year. I am also thankful for an opportunity to work alongside so many others this coming year.”

In her spare time, Streigle is into creating soaps, gardening, canning and dehydrating produce.

Overall, Robin is all about making someone’s day better.

“I heard many years ago, if you assume 99% of the people you meet are hurting in some way, you are probably right,” said Streigle. “That has changed how I live. Because of that, I am a firm believer that a smile can change someone’s day.”
