School is almost out. Summer vacation is near. Are you looking for an activity your child would enjoy this summer?

Webster City Community Theatre is again joining forces with Coralville Center for the Performing Arts and Footliters Traveling Playhouse to bring a summer theatre camp experience to area youth Aug. 3-7.

The Susan Andrew Summer Children’s Theatre Program was established by Anderson’s Charitable Fund by Cindy W. Anderson, a childhood friend of Susan’s. This fund and additional donations made in memory of Susan Stocks Andrew, a dear member of the WCCT theatre family, will be used to reduce the cost of registration for campers.

The workshop is designed for students at all levels of theatre experience who will be 7 years of age by Aug. 3 through those entering eighth grade this fall. Campers are required to attend each day, Monday through Friday, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. They also need to bring a sack lunch and personal water bottle.

Registration is now open and is limited to 40 campers. Register online at wccommtheatre.ludus.com. The nonrefundable fee is $45 per camper. The registration deadline is July 20. Emails will be sent to parents/guardians to verify the registration and provide further information. For assistance with registration, contact Loween Getter at 515-297-0846 or grandmaweengetter@gmail.com.

Campers will audition, rehearse and perform a musical alongside three professional teaching artists. “The Great Zoo Escape” is a heart-warming one-hour production with a script by Katie Colletta and music by Jason Sifford. Family and friends will have the opportunity to attend the production at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 7.

The Story: It’s another great day at the zoo, and the arrival of a new resident has everyone wild with excitement. But when the animals learn their zoo is in trouble, panic ensues. Will the animals join paws, hooves, and wings to save their beloved home? Join us for a high-flying adventure about the power of teamwork.

Starting at $3.46/week.
