‘Fiddler’ continues at WCCT

The Webster City Community Theatre will present “Fiddler on the Roof” Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m.

Tickets are available at the box office from 5 to 7 p.m. or Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to noon. Tickets are $15.

Performances of the classic musical will also continue next Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Bluegrass sounds in Stratford

STRATFORD – Musicians and bluegrass enthusiasts from all over the Midwest are expected to roll into Stratford over the weekend for the Stratford Stride 32nd annual Bluegrass Festival in the City Park.

Ten ensembles are slated to perform. Several bands have performed at the festival in previous years, but there are a few new names. The Grascals and Flatt Lonesome, both from Tennessee, are first-time festival bands. Other bands set to play are Special Consensus from Illinois, The Baker Family of Missouri, Lori King and Junction 63 from Iowa, Bluegrass Martins from Missouri, Williamson Branch of Tennessee, Dale Eichlor and Bobby Awe of Iowa, Bluegrass Blondies of Iowa and Bull Harman and Bull’s Eye from Missouri.

Show times are set for Thursday at 7 p.m.; Friday at 1 p.m. and 6 p.m., Saturday at noon and 6 p.m. A parade through downtown Stratford gets things started on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. and a community church service will be held Sunday at 10:30 a.m. followed by Gospel music at 12:30 p.m.

What’s Up

WC to host Fireworks

The Webster City Area Chamber of Commerce has accepted the request from Bob Van Diest to organize fireworks on July 2 to recognize Van Diest Supply Company’s 60 years in business.

The fireworks are set to begin Saturday, July 2 at dusk.

Little Wall Lake Park Fireworks

JEWELL?- The Hamilton County Conservation Board will be hosting the 11th annual Fireworks over the Lake on Sunday at Little Wall Lake Park.

Events get underway beginning at 4 p.m. There will be rendition drawings for a new lodge at the park on display and Sweet Treats Ice Cream on hand to sell locally made ice cream. Rasmussen’s Kitchen and Catering of Eagle Grove will be grilling barbecue, hamburgers and hot dogs.

From 6 to 7 p.m., listen to “Spirit of Chautauqua” live music performed by Will Schmitt. The “Spirit of Chautauqua” is a music tour coming to 45 Iowa counties this summer.

Williams Fireworks

WILLIAMS – On Sunday, July 3 the community is invited to attend the 10 a.m. worship service at Rose Grove Church located at 2505 Ubben. Following the service, a light lunch hosted by The Friends of Rose Grove Church will be served.

Monday’s Fourth of July festivities begin at 10 a.m. with the parade in Williams.

The Williams Lions Club fireworks display will begin approximately at 9:45 p.m. Monday night.
