The Webster City wrestling team started off another busy stretch by taking on a pair of North Central Conference opponents at Hampton-Dumont/CAL Thursday night. While the Lynx were able to top Clarion-Goldfield/Dows, 42-34, they suffered a 50-30 setback to the host Bulldogs. ROCKWELL CITY — The Webster City girls were unable to overcome a tough first quarter, dropping a 66-42 decision to South Central Calhoun here Tuesday night. ROCKWELL CITY — The Webster City boys put together a spirited second half rally here Tuesday night but were unable to overcome South Central Calhoun, falling 60-56. Jace Larson scored a career-high 27 points, going 12 of 13 from the field, while also grabbing 14 rebounds to lead the Lynx. Eight of those rebounds came on the offensive end for the senior. Linden Phetxoumphone and Carson Doolittle capped off a big week for Webster City wrestling by claiming titles at the Andy Davidson DCG Mustang Invitational this past Saturday Phetxoumphone went 3-0 to finish first at 113 pounds, as Doolittle matched that at 126. Phetxoumphone moved to 7-0 on the year with a first period fall over Urbandale’s Caleb Arroyo in the finals after earning a technical fall and a decision earlier in the day. PARKERSBURG — The Webster City boys were denied a 1-0 start to the season here Friday night, coming up short vs. Aplington-Parkersburg, 58-53. A slow first quarter put the Lynx behind the Falcons early, as A-P led 12-4 after one.
