Lynx girls top Clear Lake in tennis
A night after coming up short against St. Edmond, the Webster City girls tennis team bounced back with a thrilling win over Clear Lake.
The Lynx put together a clean sweep of doubles, downing the Lions, 5-4.
Karina Murray and Cyra Christensen, Alivia Burns and Hailey Brim, and Perla Torres and Gabbie Sebert picked up wins, including a tiebreaker victory for Murray and Christensen at the No. 1 spot that decided the meet.
Burns and Brim also had singles wins for WCHS.
“What a finish,” WCHS head coach Mark Fisher said. “This was a great win for a young team and a great effort all the way around.
“It was good to see the excitement and the joy and for them to get that validation of a lot of what they have been doing. We still have a lot of work to do but definitely good to see them soak this one up and enjoy it.”
The Lynx take on North Polk Monday night.
