Webster City boys in action at Humboldt

HUMBOLDT — The Webster City boys track and field team placed fifth here Friday at the Bunn Relays.

Algona finished first with Humboldt and Clear Lake right behind.

Jaxon Cherry swept the throwing events, winning the shot put and discus. Cherry, a senior, had a throw of 51-4 in the shot put and 154-4 in the discus.

Jayden Weinzetl and Justin Callahan each had a runner-up, as Weinzetl scored silver in the 200 in 23.6 and Callahan silver in the 1,600 in 4:53.80.

Weinzetl also added a third in the 100 with Callahan placing third in the 400.

Jack Barner was fourth in the 3,200, as was the sprint medley and shuttle hurdle relays. Keegan Hisler added a fifth in the high jump.

“We did some really good things in our first outdoor meet,” WCHS head coach Chad Hisler said. “We definitely have some things to work on, but we had some solid performances and PRs.”

The Lynx head to Gowrie on Monday.
