Hawks head to West Marshall
STATE CENTER — The schedule doesn’t necessarily get easier for the South Hamilton football team this Friday night.
After opening the season with a loss to South Hardin, the Hawks take on traditional power West Marshall.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
South Hamilton was unable to slow the Tigers down last Friday night, allowing over 500 yards of total offense — including 323 on the ground. The defense will be tasked with trying to contain Michael Lechnir, who had 111 yards rushing for the Trojans (0-1) in their opener.
West Marshall fell to Nevada, 33-7, as they surrendered over 200 yards rushing and almost 200 yards passing.
For the Hawks, Kolby Hodnefield rushed for 91 yards, Ashton Williams had 90 and a score, and Jose Babcock found the end zone on the ground. Braden Young threw for 49 yards including a 7-yard TD to Landon Sogard.
Nick Severseike had 77 yards of total offense, catching three passes.
Along with Lechnir running 24 times a week ago from his quarterback position for the Trojans, Ben Gonzalez had 40 yards rushing. Four different players caught a pass from Lechnir, who threw two interceptions.
South Hamilton snapped a three-game win streak in the series vs. West Marshall last year, winnning 48-13.
