Lynx run at Southeast Valley
GOWRIE — The Webster City boys track and field team kept the momentum going from last week with a strong performance here Monday night at the Southeast Valley Invitational.
The Lynx placed third overall, as the host Jaguars took home team gold.
Justin Callahan, fresh off his school-record run in the 400 this past Saturday, won gold in the 800 and anchored the winning sprint medley relay.
Callahan went 2:02.86 in the 800 and was joined by Jaxon Griffith, Kaleb Hansen and Rylan Stroner on the winning sprint medley, which was clocked at 1:35.71. That time set a new meet record and reset the school mark.
Beau Nohrenberg joined Callahan atop the podium, placing first in the shot put with a throw of 46-10. Nohrenberg was also third in the discus.
Stroner earned silver in the 200 with a time of 23.25, as did Daniel Murillo-Delfin in the 800, going 2:09.56. Jack Barner gave Webster City a third runner-up finish, placing second in the 3,200 in 11:36.54.
“Our 4×100 has a good shot at qualifying for the Drake Relays after placing fourth with Kaleb, Rylan, Jaxon and Israel Torres,” WCHS head coach Chad Hisler said. “Beau had a lifetime best in the shot put.
“I was once again happy with our performances.”
Griffith was third in the 110 hurdles in 15.90 and the 4×400 relay of Callahan, Grayson Simonton, Dane Hansen and Murillo-Delfin finished third in a time of 3:39.54.
