Trojans pay the price for errors in 18-16 loss to Royals

BLAIRSBURG – Northeast Hamilton collected 11 hits, but also made 15 errors in a wild 18-16 Iowa Star Conference loss to Colo-NESCO here on Monday.

“When you have 15 errors, without that coming down you’re not going to win very many games,” NEH head coach Chace Pruismann said.

The two teams combined to blast 26 hits, including nine that went for extra bases.

Colo-NESCO (3-5, 3-3 ISC) – winners of three straight after losing its first five games – did all of its damage in three innings. The Royals scored four in the second, seven in the third and seven more in the sixth.

NEH (1-5, 1-5 ISC) plated five in the third, four in the fifth, two in the sixth and five in the seventh before running out of outs.

Nick Jeffers collected two hits, including a double, and drove in four runs in the loss. Kyle Pruismann smacked a single, double and pushed three runs across. Nate Rapp and Garrett Grady both added a pair of singles; Rapp had a RBI.
