Webster City police dispatch vital service to community

To the Editor: It recently came to the attention of police department personnel that the mayor approached the county about merging. The citizens of WC need to be aware of the services that would be eliminated or drastically changed were this to happen. The volume of calls handled by the police department alone are significantly more than that of the county. Services currently handled by PD dispatchers such as utility interruptions, water main issues, street problems, trees down, after hour payments, purchase of drug test kits, animal impound fees, unlocks, bad weather announcements, ...

Haunted Barn benefits Boy Scouts

To the Editor: Just wanted to thank this awesome community for coming out and supporting our very first ever Haunted Barn at Fluffy Butt Acres! We had 748 people come thru our three barn haunt Friday and Saturday, even after only advertising it for a week! It was all the crazy brainchild of Jamie Seiser and I who thought it would make a great fundraiser for Boy Scout Troop 17.(Jamie and his wife Robin, have two sons who achieved their Eagle Scout rank in the program.) To the Editor: Childcare isn’t a glamorous industry; it’s exhausting, messy work with low pay. We aren’t seen as educators or professionals; we are viewed as glorified babysitters. I ask, if we were only babysitting children, why don’t we plop them down in front of the television? Why do we concern ourselves with providing healthy meals? To the Editor: The adage repeat a lie often enough and it will become the truth is an unscrupulous method being used in this year’s election by the Republican Party. Joe Biden is NOT a socialist as they wish voters to believe. Democrats do NOT raise taxes on low and mid-range earners. To the Editor: “Good morning, I would like to put my two children on your wait list for childcare.” Daycare provider: “Okay great, I will need to get some basic information from you, but first I would like to let you know that it is between a 3-5 year wait list.” My two children are on almost every wait list for in-home and daycare centers in Webster City.
