To the editor: Jane Curtis hit the nail on the head! We’ve been strongly advised that Webster City needs to “tighten our belts.” Though the splash pad is an interesting idea, it is not necessary at this time when it would only serve a very limited age group, is extremely costly, and would put an ongoing annual upkeep expense on not only our pocketbooks, but those of our children and grandchildren. To the Editor: Do you like the world today? Are you worried about America? Who do you blame, the politicians? And who voted those politicians in? I want you to look in the mirror and ask if you’ve done enough. In the 2022 midterm election the voting rate was 46%, less than half. Do you encourage others to vote? Eminent domain should not be used for carbon pipelines

To the editor: A Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa poll in March showed that nearly 80% of Iowans oppose the use of eminent domain for a carbon pipeline. I hope the Iowa Utility Board follows the wishes of nearly 80% of the Iowans and votes against eminent domain. In my opinion the laws pertaining to eminent domain were not written for a few investors to enter personal property against the owner’s will for their own personal financial gain.
