Jane Curtis hit the nail on the head

To the editor:

Jane Curtis hit the nail on the head! We’ve been strongly advised that Webster City needs to “tighten our belts.” Though the splash pad is an interesting idea, it is not necessary at this time when it would only serve a very limited age group, is extremely costly, and would put an ongoing annual upkeep expense on not only our pocketbooks, but those of our children and grandchildren. Especially with this large water rate hike in these current times of drought.

Wouldn’t it be more prudent to put that money toward a new aquatic center that would bring in revenue, serve ALL ages, and attract visitors to our town on a daily basis?

Since Webster City has expanded in many directions since the site of the original pool was selected, perhaps choose a different site for the aquatic center that would have ample parking and room to grow (example: Hospital Hill?).

Let common sense reign! An aquatic center would 1) be used by ALL ages; 2) bring in revenue for upkeep; and 3) attract visitors to Webster City.

A splash pad, not so much. So now I’m in the same punchbowl with Jane?
