WC man charged in Friday night accident

A Wester City man was charged with several offenses Friday night following a two-vehicle accident Friday in downtown Webster City.

Kaitlyn A. Fox, Fort Dodge, was reportedly backing from a parking spot on Second Street, when the read of the Ford Fusion she was driving was struck by a Volkswagon Jetta driven by Leonardo Gonzalez-Martinez, Otho. Police reports state that Gonzalez-Martinez fled the scene on foot. The driver was soon located in an apartment near the scene of the accident. According to police reports, witnesses on the scene said they saw Gonzalez-Martinez fail to stop at the stop sign at Second Street and Willson Avenue and said Gonzalez-Martinez appeared to be going faster than the posted speed limit. Gonzales-Martinez was charged with operating while intoxicated, second offense, no driver’s license and a stop sign violation.

The Volkswagon received approximately $7,000 in damages. The Ford Fusion received approximately $4,000 in damages.
