Hunters reminded to get permission to hunt on private property

Brian Lammers, Hamilton County Conservation officer, urges hunters to be respectful of private property when hunting.

Hamilton County has a number of public ares for hunting. Some areas are managed by the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.

Those public areas include: Coyote Run, Gordon’s Marsh for dove pheasants and waterfowl; Tunnel Mill Access for deer and turkey; Boone Forks Wildlife Area for deer, turkey, pheasant and dove; Little Wall Lake for pheasant, waterfowl and dove; Kamrar Wildlife Management area; Johnson Wildlife Management area; Bauer Slough; Albright River Access, Iowa Habitat Access program (walk-in only) for deer and pheasants; Heise Wildlife management area; Richard’s Marsh; Barner Wildlife management area; Mark and Sadie Bishop Conservation area; and Brandrup’s Timber.

With hunting season in progress, hunters are reminded they need to get permission from private land owners before walking through their property, and to honor no trespassing signs.
