Bus, fuel costs will likely rise for WCCSD
The Webster City Community School board heard the school’s transportation director, Ted Larson, update the school board on the status of the conditions of the school’s fleet. He also made the board aware of the approximate increase of $13,000 in the cost of federal-mandated seat belts per bus. Larson also informed the board that all the drivers have renewed their contracts to return next year.
An unknown for the future that he pointed out is the price of fuel for the buses. The gas contract for 25,000 gallons has expired and he purchased additional gas to complete the school year. Last year’s gas contract was for $2.03 per gallon, he said. Larson said It was unlikely that he would even be able to get a contract for next year. He also made mention of the probable delay in getting new buses.
