Bender, Brock wed in Ames

Kayla Michelle Bender of Mount Ayr and Heath Leonard Brock of Webster City, wed July 11, 2015, at 3 p.m. at the Ames First United Methodist Church, the Rev. Fred Lewis, Ames, officiating.

A reception followed the ceremony at The Gateway Hotel and Conference Center. A plated dinner was served and music was provided by BC Productions of Des Moines. The ball room was elegantly decorated with floral arrangements in hues of ivory, along with an abundance of candlelight to accompany the gold and black tablescapes.

The bride is the daughter of Richard and Karen Bender of Mount Ayr. The groom is the son of Keith and Patsy Brock of Webster City.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride was gracefully attired in a Justin Alexander Signature gown of silk dupioni and carried a bouquet of white peonies. The bridal bouquet was tied with an ivory ribbon and adorned with the last gift she received from her grandfather, Jack Elliott, an Indian head penny. The groom wore conventional black with ivory.

Matron of Honor was Natalie Ingram of Waukee, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Courtney Adams of Mount Ayr; Heather Howard of Cedar Falls; and Jaime Davis of Duncombe. Flower girls were cousins of the bride, Jessica and Abigail Lathrop of Ankeny and niece of the groom, Evie Davis of Duncombe.

Best Man was Craig Law of Duncombe, cousin of the groom. Groomsmen were Clark Middleton of St. Joseph, MI; Jon Howard of Cedar Falls; Justin Davis of Duncombe. Ring Bearers were Nolan Law, cousin of the groom and Brock Davis, nephew of the groom. Ushers were Brad Elliott of Mount Ayr; Christopher Elliott of Pearland, Texas; Eric Anderson of Duncombe; Chris Nessa of Clear Lake; Tyler Nessa of Webster City.

Scripture readers were Abby Elliott of Mount Ayr and Kirk Elliott of Independence, MO. Ceremony music was provided by Myrna Cakerice, organist, and Debbie Cannon, pianist. The solo performances were “A Thousand Years”, performed by Jenae Kennedy of Cedar Falls and “All of Me”, performed by Dr. Drew Ingram of Waukee. Hosts and hostesses for the ceremony were Mr. and Mrs. Kirk Golliday of Mount Ayr and Ms. Connie Brock and Mr. Mark Anderson of Duncombe.

Hosts and hostesses for the reception were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Elliott of Mount Ayr and Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Beaulieu Dakota Dunes, SD.

Weddings in Iowa coordinated the wedding and the reception, along with providing all decorations and floral arrangements.

The couple spent their honeymoon in Playa Mujeres, Mexico at an ocean resort and currently resides on an acreage outside of Duncombe.
