Jam Session Friday at Blairsburg Opera House

BLAIRSBURG —The Blairsburg Opera House Jam session will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday. This free event will be held at the Opera House, located on Second Street in downtown Blairsburg. Musicians, dancers and listeners are invited.

Alden Methodist hosting drive-thru meal Sunday

ALDEN — The Alden Methodist Church will be hosting a special drive-thru meal from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday. The church is located at 1512 Hardin St. in Alden. The meal consists of hamballs, cheesy potatoes, green beans, a roll and cookies. A freewill donation is the cost of the meal.

American Legion Post 191 dinner is Friday night

The monthly dinner at the American Legion Post 191 will be Friday night. Scalloped potatoes and ham will be served at the Legion building, located at 726 Second St. Serving begins at 4 p.m. and will be available until 6 p.m. or until supply is exhausted. All are welcome to attend. The cost of the meal is a freewill offering which is used to help support the cemetery flag project and other Legion projects.

WCCT Readers Theatre is Sunday

The Webster City Community Theatre will be reading “Birthday Club” at 3 p.m. Sunday. The reading will be held at the WCCT Performing Arts Cewnter at 1001 Willson Ave. “Birthday Club” was written by Phil Olson, who also wrote the “Don’t Hug Me” series. Five women get together for their birthdays, each with her own story. They drink, celebrate, commiserate, and support each other as they negotiate marriage, work, divorce, birth and kids while solving the problems of the world. Mary Sealine will lead the reading. Bring a snack to share and your choice of beverage.

Earth Day Nature Journaling program is Wednesday

Brenna Dixon, Iowa Master Naturalist, will lead a program on Nature Journaling from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Briggs Woods Park, starting at the barn. Participants will then go into the forest or prairie. After journaling, there will be an opportunity for discussion. Registration is required by going to www.mycountyparks.com.

Kendall Young Library announces activities

Kendall Young Library will be hosting an adult afternoon bingo at 1 p.m. today. Wild Things (TK through second grade) will also be held at 3:45 p.m. today for hands-on crafts and snack-making. If fiber arts are more your style, come to the Fiber Arts Hangout at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
