The Van Diest Medical Center Board of Trustees will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the clinic board room at the hospital, 2350 Hospital Drive in Webster City. On the agenda is the FY 26 Tax budget amendment, the audit engagement agreement, hospital management and strategic pillar reports, updates from Lisa Ridge, announcements and community events.
The Webster City Community Theatre will be reading “Birthday Club” at 3 p.m. Sunday. The reading will be held at the WCCT Performing Arts Center at 1001 Willson Ave. “Birthday Club” was written by Phil Olson, who also wrote the “Don’t Hug Me” series. The story is about the five women who get together for their birthdays, each with her own story. Mary Sealine will lead the reading. Bring a snack to share and your choice of beverage.
The monthly dinner at the American Legion Post 191 will be held tonight. Scalloped potatoes and ham will be served at the Legion building, located at 726 Second St. Serving begins at 4 p.m. and will be available until 6 p.m. or until supply is exhausted. All are welcome to attend. The cost of the meal is a freewill offering which is used to help support the cemetery flag project and other Legion projects.
The Jane Young House Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday for those who want to view the new exhibit. The Jane Young House is located at 629 Elm St. in Webster City. The new exhibit highlights fashions from 1947. A beautiful house, full of history contributes to the experience visiting the historic home. A free will donation is the only cost. A ramp is available on the east side of the building for those needing handicap access.
ALDEN — The Alden Methodist Church will be hosting a special drive-thru meal from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday. The church is located at 1512 Hardin St. in Alden. The meal consists of hamballs, cheesy potatoes, green beans, a roll and cookies for a freewill donation.
The Hamilton County Conservation office will be holding a seminar in honor of Earth Day by learning about silkworms. The program begins at 10 a.m. at the Conservation office, located at 2490 Briggs Woods Trail. Loretta Zue is the speaker. She’ll begin her presentation in board room, but then move outside. At the end of the program, a trash pick-up throughout the park will be held, wrapping up with a campfire, hot dogs and s’mores. Those participating should bring gloves.
