Van Diest Medical Center trustees meet Tuesday

The Van Diest Medical Center Board of Trustees will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the clinic board room at the hospital, 2350 Hospital Drive in Webster City. On the agenda is the FY 26 Tax budget amendment, the audit engagement agreement, hospital management and strategic pillar reports, updates from Lisa Ridge, announcements and community events.

Jam session tonight at Blairsburg Opera House

BLAIRSBURG —The Blairsburg Opera House Jam session will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday. This free event will be held at the Opera House, located on Second Street in downtown Blairsburg. Musicians, dancers and listeners are invited.

Jane Young House Museum open Saturday

The Jane Young House Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday for those who want to view the new exhibit. The Jane Young House is located at 629 Elm St. in Webster City.

Silkwork Secrets and Conservation Legacy celebration Saturday

The Hamilton County Conservation office will be holding a seminar in honor of Earth Day by learning about silkworms. The program begins at 10 a.m. at the Conservation office, located at 2490 Briggs Woods Trail. Loretta Zue is the speaker. She’ll begin her presentation in board room, but then move outside. At the end of the program, a trash pick-up throughout the park will be held, wrapping up with a campfire, hot dogs and s’mores. Those participating should bring gloves. There is a 50 person limit, so please register at www.mycountyparks.com.

The new exhibit highlights fashions from 1947. A beautiful house, full of history contributes to the experience visiting the historic home. A free will donation is the only cost. A ramp is available on the east side of the building for those needing handicap access.
