ALDEN — The Alden Methodist Church will be hosting a special drive-thru meal from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday. The church is located at 1512 Hardin St. in Alden. The meal consists of hamballs, cheesy potatoes, green beans, a roll and cookies for a freewill donation.
The monthly dinner at the American Legion Post 191 will be Friday night. Scalloped potatoes and ham will be served at the Legion building, located at 726 Second St. Serving begins at 4 p.m. and will be available until 6 p.m. or until supply is exhausted. All are welcome to attend. The cost of the meal is a freewill offering which is used to help support the cemetery flag project and other Legion projects.
The Webster City Community Theatre will be reading “Birthday Club” at 3 p.m. Sunday. The reading will be held at the WCCT Performing Arts Cewnter at 1001 Willson Ave. “Birthday Club” was written by Phil Olson, who also wrote the “Don’t Hug Me” series. Five women get together for their birthdays, each with her own story. They drink, celebrate, commiserate, and support each other as they negotiate marriage, work, divorce, birth and kids while solving the problems of the world. Mary Sealine will lead the reading. Bring a snack to share and your choice of beverage.

“Public art is for Everyone, Everywhere — Educate, Encourage, Enjoy!” is the mission statement of Arts R Alive in Webster City. The group is in its 16th year of bringing sculptures to Webster City. It evolved from the Pride in Webster City community group, which began in 2010. Since 2023 the group has been a member of the SculptureOne group which includes the cities of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; Mankato, Minnesota; and Mason City. The Jane Young House Museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday for those who want to view the new exhibit. The Jane Young House is located at 629 Elm St. in Webster City. The new exhibit highlights fashions from 1947. A beautiful house, full of history contributes to the experience visiting the historic home. A free will donation is the only cost. A ramp is available on the east side of the building for those needing handicap access.
