American Legion Flag Day disposal service this Friday

In observance of Flag Day, the American Legion Post 191 will conduct a ceremonial retirement of unserviceable U.S. flags at 4 p.m. on Friday. This dignified event will take place in the north alley of the 700 block of Second Street, adjacent to Pagel Glass. Community members are encouraged to deliver any flags they wish to include in the ceremony to the American Legion at 726 Second St., Webster City, prior to Thursday. The Legion is open Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Alternatively, flags may be brought directly to the ceremony site at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.

Lehigh Methodist Church has Second Sunday Supper this week

The Lehigh Methodist Church will hold its June Second Sunday Supper on Sunday evening, June 14, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the church basement. This month’s menu is pulled pork sandwiches with coleslaw, dessert and a drink. The cost is a freewill donation

Blairsburg Shelter potluck and dedication Sunday

The Community Potluck/Shelter Open House will be at noon on Sunday. The event is located in the park in Blairsburg at the new shelter. All table service and beverages will be provided. Those attending are asked to bring a main dish and salad or dessert to share. The open house is open to everyone.

Webster City School Board meets Monday

The Webster City school board meets at 6 p.m. Monday in the Webster City school administration building located at 820 Des Moines St. On the agenda is the consideration of the following issues: design team agreement, construction manager as an agent request for proposal, site survey proposal, resolution ordering election on the question of amending or continuing the current voter approved physical plant and equipment property tax, the first reading of multiple board policies within the 200 and 700 series. There will also be a closed session for superintendent evaluation.

Women’s club meets Monday at Jane Young House

The next meeting of the Webster City Woman’s Club will be held` at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Jane Young House, 629 Elm St. The greeter will be Marilyn Williams and refreshments will be served by Marilyn Grubbe, Billie Smid, Donna Jansen, and Eloise Stearns The program is “Happy Birthday USA” by Carol Zills.
