A driver received minor injuries in a train-semi accident Thursday morning just north of 220th Street on McMurray Avenue, according to Hamilton County Sheriff Doug Timmons. Robert Mitchell of Webster City was southbound on McMurray Avenue when he collided with the westbound Canadian National Railway train. Mitchell was transported to Van Diest Medical Center with minor injuries. The truck and trailer were totaled, according to Timmons. There was minor damage to the train. Mitchell was cited for failure to yield at railroad crossing. The accident was investigated by the Iowa State Patrol with assistance from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s office. Also at the scene was the Webster City Fire Department, Blairsburg Fire Department and the CNR Police Department.
