McFarland takes oath of office

During the first City Council meeting of the year, the newly elected council members are required to take the oath of office. Above, Webster City Councilwoman Megan McFarland was sworn into office by City Manager John Harrenstein at the council's first meeting of the year on Monday. McFarland was elected by members of the council to serve as the mayor pro tem for the 2026 year.
In addition to McFarland, Mayor John Hawkins, who was reelected to the council, and new members John Marvel and Ashley Allers also took the oath to serve the community of Webster City to the best of their abilities. They are joining Abbie Hansen, the final member of the City Council.
