South Hamilton girls close 2025 with victory

JEWELL — The South Hamilton girls closed out the month with a 41-37 victory over West Marshall here last Friday night, snapping a two-game losing skid in the process.

Tessa Skartvedt recorded a double-double, as the junior scored 11 points and collected 10 rebounds. Emma Lammers added nine points and Allie Neuberger had six.

“This was a big win for us against a good conference opponent,” South Hamilton head coach Mark Henderson said. “We had our backs against the wall in this one, but the girls responded with a great second half and put the game away at the free throw line.

“I am really proud of the way they never gave up and fought back after getting behind.”

Down by as many as 13 in the first quarter, the Hawks slowly chipped away before going on a big run in the third. They outscored the Trojans 13-4 after the break, ending a five-game win streak in the series by West Marshall.

South Hamilton finished 17 of 29 from the free throw line, as Kaylen Trask and Neuberger each recorded three steals. Lammers, Isabel Swenson and Allya Erickson all had two steals each.

The Hawks (3-4, 2-3) return in 2026 when they host PCM on Jan. 2. West Marshall is now 3-5 and 2-3.

Starting at $3.46/week.
