Lynx wrestlers in action at Fort Dodge
FORT DODGE — The Webster City wrestling team competed at the 51st annual Don Miller Invitational on Saturday.
The Lynx placed ninth and scored 56.5 points.
Jaysen Vankham (4-5) had the highest finish for Webster City, placing third at 138. Vankham reached the semifinals with a pin.
Vankham lost to Will Larson of Decorah in the semis. He bounced back with a 52 second fall over Emmetsburg’s Jackson Wilcoxon in the third place match.
Gavin Wynkoop (6-3) was fourth at 144 pounds. He advanced to the semifinals with a fall.
Wynkoop lost 18-5 to Decorah’s Gavin Carolan in the semis. Owen Koethe won the medal match over Wynkoop.
Cody Elliott (5-4) also placed fourth at 215. Elliott earned a fall in the quarterfinals and lost to Tayten Rummel of Algona in the semis.
In the medal match, the Lynx senior dropped a tight 5-4 decision to Ethan Kuennen of Decorah.
Lincoln Brookshire (113) finished in sixth for the Lynx.
