WEBSTER CITY — The Webster City volleyball team couldn’t keep the rally going on Tuesday night.

The Lynx (6-6 overall) opened their match against Charles City (2-9) with a 25-21 loss. They bounced back with a 25-16 win, before the Comets closed the match out with 25-23 and 25-21 victories.

“We got off to a slow start,” said WCHS head coach Jess Howard. “In the second set, we got a lead and maintained it.

“We dug ourselves too many holes.”

Lovie Pruismann led the Lynx with 28 assists.

Morgan Hackbarth and Ashlee Nydegger were perfect at the service line in 14 tries each. Hackbarth had an ace.

Pruismann tallied four aces. Jaylyn Bahrenfuss was 16-for-18 with an ace at the service line.

Tristyn Wright was 39-for-50 attacking with 17 kills. Pruismann was 13-for-14 with four kills.

Bahrenfuss was 18-for-21 with five kills. Clara Grossoehme recorded seven kills.

Evie Davis finished with five blocks, while Grossoehme contributed four.

Hackbarth led the Lynx with 30 digs. Alivia Burns added 10, while Pruismann and Janey Putney had nine each.

“We had some girls that really stepped up and took command,” Howard said. “They played consistent while staying in system and not giving off easy balls to start rallies.”

The Lynx are back in action on Saturday when they play in the Forest City tournament.

Starting at $3.46/week.
