Davis, Hibbing going into BVU Hall of Fame

Former Lynx players were on memorable 2011 Beaver baseball squad

STORM LAKE — Two former Webster City standouts will be inducted into the Buena Vista University Athletics Hall of Fame this coming Friday night.

Alex Davis and Kyle Hibbing will be honored along with their teammates from the 2011 Beaver baseball team, Dan O’Hern, Jennifer (Einck) Irvin, Jestin Hulegaard and Luke Probasco as the Class of 2025 by the university.

Davis was a sophomore infielder who played in 17 games with eight starts. He hit .324 with two doubles and nine singles.

Hibbing was a freshman catcher on the squad, playing in four games with three starts. He recorded three hits and drove in four with a run scored.

The 2011 Buena Vista baseball team went 34-18 overall, setting what was then a program record for wins in a season. They were runner-ups in the conference, and earned an at-large NCAA Div. III Regional Tournament bid.

The Beavers went on to win the regional title and advance to the Div. III College World Series. They knocked off two more ranked opponents before falling a win short of competing in the championship round.

A formal banquet will be held Friday with all of the hall of fame members being recognized during Saturday’s football game between Buena Vista and Simpson.

Starting at $3.46/week.
