No. 4 Algona too much for Lynx in NCC twinbill

The Webster City baseball team dropped a North Central Conference doubleheader to fourth-ranked (Class 3A) Algona at home on Monday night.

Scores were 8-3 and 10-1.

Aiden Hrnicek drove in a pair to lead the Lynx in the opener, as the Bulldogs plated runs in six of the seven innings, including a three-run fifth.

Webster City (6-9 overall, 5-3 in the NCC) scored all three of its runs in the sixth but managed just one hit against Bulldog pitchers. Tate Slagle went five, striking out 13 on the mound.

Braylon Dyvig recorded six strikeouts for Webster City in five-plus innings.

Dyvig, Gavin Griffith and Boston Farley all had two hits in the nightcap to lead the Lynx, as Dyvig drove in Carter Mickelson for the lone run.

Algona is now 14-3 and 8-1.

Next action for the Lynx will be Thursday when they travel to Pocahontas Area.
