A tough first inning was too much for the Webster City softball team to overcome here Monday night, as the Lynx fell to Algona, 14-6 in six innings.
The Bulldogs (6-3 overall, 3-1 in the North Central Conference) plated seven runs in the first to take control, as Webster City (1-5, 1-3) did cut into the deficit with three in the bottom half.
Both Jakaela Cherry and Breanna Bahrenfuss recorded home runs, as Bahrenfuss and Jaylyn Bahrenfuss each drove in two runs.
Morgan Hackbarth had two hits and Hailey Brim scored twice, as Cloe Savitski added an RBI. Brim and Alivia Burns both stole a base.
Next action for the Lynx will be Wednesday at Hampton-Dumont/CAL followed by a trip to Iowa Falls-Alden on Thursday and a home game vs. Carlisle Friday.
