Hawks look to finish unbeaten

EAGLE GROVE — The South Hamilton football team looks to put the finishing touches on a perfect district run here Friday night against Eagle Grove.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.

The Hawks (6-1 overall) secured the league title with their fourth consecutive easy win last week, besting Manson Northwest Webster, 54-13. Since starting district play, South Hamilton has won by 58, 24, 54 and 41 points.

Nick Severseike, a sophomore, leads the team with 538 yards rushing and seven TDs, while Noah Gunderson has 402 and 11 scores, and Landen Skartvedt has 467 and five.

As a collective unit, South Hamilton has rushed for 2,374 yards and 39 touchdowns, averaging over seven yards per carry.

When called upon, Tjerdan Johnson has been effective, completing 10 of 20 passes for 155 yards with 227 yards rushing. Owen Renaud leads the receivers with 81 yards and a TD.

Eagle Grove, who are assured of a playoff bid regardless of the outcome, has picked up back-to-back wins over Manson Northwest Webster and Belmond-Klemme since three straight setbacks.

Cayden Schultz has been a key player for the Eagles on both sides of the ball, racking up over 500 yards of total offense with five TDs. Schultz also ranks among the state leaders with six interceptions, returning two of them for scores.

South Hamilton has won each of the past seven meetings, including a 51-0 victory last year. Eagle Grove’s last win in the series came in 2011.
