JEWELL — The playoff pressure arrives for Class 1A teams across the state this Friday night.

South Hamilton (7-1 overall) put the finishing touches on a perfect district run last week, blasting past Eagle Grove, 60-12. Now, the Hawks square off with Ridge View (4-4), which punched its ticket into the postseason with a 28-7 win over Sibley-Ocheyedan.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. here Friday night.

The week before in a win over Manson Northwest Webster, they didn’t complete a pass, rushing 42 times for 396 yards. South Hamilton has not completed a pass since Sept. 23 when both Tjerdan Johnson and Landen Skartvedt each found receivers.

Overall, the Hawks have 2,844 yards rushing and 47 touchdowns, averaging almost eight yards per tote. Skartvedt has 627 with seven scores, Nick Severseike has 617 and nine TDs, and Noah Gunderson has 444 with 12 touchdowns.

The Raptors are well-tested, having played fellow playoff qualifiers fifth-ranked (Class 1A) OABCIG, Unity Christian, No. 4 (1A) West Sioux and Emmetsburg this season.
