To the editor: I was thrilled when I heard Alex was running for sheriff. I have known Alex for several years, and having worked with him in several capacities, I can confidently say he is the best person for the job. Alex is rooted in both this community and in a commitment to honesty, integrity and excellence. Alex strives to be his best and expects the same of those around him. He is constantly learning, striving for growth and committed to the highest good for the people he serves. There is no one I would trust more in this position. Tyler Burton Williams

To the editor: It is vital that we vote for values in the next Sheriff of Hamilton County election to precede a sheriff who has large shoes to fill. I believe that Alex Pruismann, being a local Hamilton County resident for his whole life, would bring those needed values. I speak from a viewpoint as an educator. Deputy Pruismann has spent many a year coming into the schools and showing our younger generation that law enforcement is important and nothing to be afraid of. The historic grain elevator site of Stonega east of Webster City is still burning. Not in the spectacular conflagration that greeted the 15 fire departments called to the scene very early Sunday morning. This is a slow burn, fueled by grain and whipped by the winds that seem to have decided it’s time to blow. To the editor: As I write, it is day 776 of Russia’s war against the people of the sovereign nation of Ukraine. The Kyiv Independent reports that Ukrainian air defense units destroyed all 20 Shahed-type drones that Russia launched overnight and seaborne Ukraine forces have retaken a set of Black Sea oil drilling platforms severely crippling Russia’s reconnaissance capability in the Black Sea.
