Jacqueline Brothers

Jacqueline Teresa (Sutka) Brothers, 72, passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at MercyOne Hospice in Johnston. Per Jacqueline’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and the family will be holding a memorial service at a later date.

Jacque was born October 26, 1949 in Webster City, Iowa to Edward and Sheila (McIntire) Sutka. She graduated from Webster City High School in 1968. Jacque was married to Tom Severe in 1971 and they welcomed two children, Chad and Jessica. They later divorced.

Anything Jacque ever set her mind on doing, she excelled at. In the 1970s and 80s, Jacque worked for the Daily Freeman-Journal and KQWC Radio, followed by numerous other radio stations in the Midwest. For many years she lived in Texas and bred, raised, and showed American Eskimo dogs–even taking one to Westminster. Most recently, she retired to the Des Moines area with her daughter, Jess.

Jacque is survived by her children: Chad Severe (Lisa) and Jess Severe (Wil); sister, Kristine Whalen; brother-in-law, David Luiken; nieces and nephews: Lynne Coyne, Lisa Woxell (JR), Stephen Whalen (Alyson), and Jennie Juhl (Jake). She is preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, James Seamands; sister, Stephanie Luiken; and brother-in-law, Jerry Whalen.
