Michael Scheuermann, 53, Boone

Mike Scheuermann, age 53, of 1815 Marshall Street in Boone, died July 18, 2014, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral Services will be Thursday, July 24, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 712 Twelfth Street in Boone with Pastor Lindsay Watkins officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.

Michael Alan Scheuermann was born in Boone on March 17, 1961, the son of Earl and Eula (Meyer) Scheuermann.

Mike attended Trinity Lutheran Grade School in Boone and graduated from Boone High School in 1979. In 1983, Mike graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration with distinction in Accounting. On September 29, 1984, Mike married Renee Dittmer in Boone.

From 1984 to present, Mike has been a partner with Henkel & Associates, working as a CPA in the Boone, Madrid, and Webster City offices. Mike also owned Storage on Story. While in high school, Mike enjoyed working at the former Boyd’s Dairy in Boone. He collected antique cars and license plates, Budweiser and Boyd’s Dairy memorabilia, enjoyed camping and boating at Clear Lake, motorcycle riding, listening to music, and he was an avid ISU fan. His greatest love was canoeing, especially the Boundary Waters area in northern Minnesota. After tax season, Mike and Renee yearly attended the Minneapolis Canoe Expo in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Mike was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church where he was a past treasurer, Boone Jaycees, Boone Day-Breaker Kiwanis, the Iowa Society of CPA’s where he served on the Board of Directors and was presently serving as Secretary, past president of the Boone County Hospital Foundation, ISU Alumni Association, MAC (Madrid Action Committee), and 4-H Foundation. Throughout his life, Mike was passionate about helping people.

He is preceded in death by his father Earl, father-in-law Herbert Dittmer Sr., grandparents, uncles and aunts. Mike is survived by his wife Renee of Boone; his mother Eula Scheuermann of Boone; a brother Mark Scheuermann and wife Heather of Bettendorf and their son Matthew of Bettendorf; mother-in-law Carole Dittmer of Boone; a brother-in-law Herbie Dittmer and wife Lori of Ogden; sisters-in-law, Regina Wellendorf and husband David of Tiffin, Rebecca Kinning and husband Jeff of Bettendorf, Rhonda Guldenpfennig and husband Jim of Ft. Dodge, Roxann Dittmer-Seversen and husband Stan of Cedar Rapids, Rachelle Flory and husband Dave of Ames, and Rheann Uetz and husband Ryan of Urbandale; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving is Mike’s extended family, Shawn and Cheri Moran, Shannon and BJ Hill, Shawn Moran II and Alisha, Brandon Moran and “5 cute girls”, Addie and Halle Bailey, Piper Hill, and Lilly and Harper Moran.

Friends may call at Trinity Lutheran Church in Boone on Wednesday from 4 until 8 p.m. where the family will be present from 5 until 8 p.m. Visitation continues Thursday at the Church from 9:30 a.m. until service time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family to be gifted to charities at a later date.
