Nearly 20% of the 9,600 registered voters in Hamilton County voted at the Tuesday Primary election. In the Republican race for Iowa House District 55, Beau Klaver won the chance to face Cynthia Oppedal Paschen for the seat in the fall election. Klaver, from Kamrar received a total of 1,048 votes. His opponent Kurtis Bower received 135 votes, and Brian Young, who had withdrawn from the race received 88. The Republican races for U.S. Senator were declared early.
