Digging in

Donors and supporters of the East Twin Park Splash Pad Project gathered Thursday afternoon to turn over the first dirt that signals the beginning of its construction. The following people handled the shovels, though not necessarily in this order:

Webster City Mayor Pro Tem Logan Welch; Webster City City Council members Megan McFarland and Abbie Hanson; Webster City Recreation & Public Grounds Director Breanne Lesher; Debby Pruismann and Jordan Hensley of Peoples Credit Union; Denny Simmons and Jeff MacRunnel of KC Nielsen; and representatives of Seneca Foundry, Webster City Custom Meats, Enhance Hamilton County, and Peterson Construction.

Notably among the donations was $50,000 contributed by the century-old business Seneca Foundry, of Webster City’s century-old iron casting foundry. Other significant donations came from Webster City Custom Meats, KC Neilsen and Peoples Credit Union, in addition to gifts from private donors. The project also received an Enhance Hamilton County Foundation Grant award and an Iowa Tourism CAT grant from the Iowa Economic Development Authority.

Peterson Construction, of Webster City, the contracted builder, intends to complete construction by late summer of 2024.
