Multiple crews battle wind-driven house fire near Kamrar

No one was home; fire was detected by home security camera.

Fire in a house west of Kamrar drew fire departments from Kamrar, Webster City, Jewell, Stanhope, Blairsburg and Stratford Thursday.

A fire that was detected by a home security camera when the residents weren’t home drew multiple fire departments to the farm west of Kamrar Thursday afternoon.

Kamrar Fire was called to 2059 280th Street, Kamrar, about 2 p.m.

Almost immediately, the Webster City and Stanhope fire departments were called for mutual aid.

As the blaze progressed, Jewell Fire was paged.

Eventually, Stratford and Blairsburg were also asked for tanker support.

By 4:30 p.m., the wind drove the flames southward.

The frame house, built in 1930, is owned by Ariana Torres Mora, according to online county property records. Its purchase price in 2021 was $92,000, those records show.

The American Red Cross was called to assist the family.

Fire trucks and personal vehicles line the road in rural Kamrar.

North winds drove the upper story flames as firefighters battled the blaze.
