WCHS’s Treble Singers to sing with Rising Treble Voices Festival at ISU Saturday
The Treble Singers of Webster City High School will participate in the inaugural Rising Treble Voices Festival at Iowa State University on Saturday, May 2.
The Treble singers include Rae Benshoof, Gracie Bishop, Aaliyah Brown, Mckenna Buakham, Liberty Gamble, Rylie Halliday, Anna Irvin, Lillian Irving, Kenzie Jones, Marissa Lindstrom, Ariauna Reed, Mishelle Rich, Natalie Segar, Sarahi Terrazas, Jasmin Venegas, Lila Venegas and Mae Winkler.
As part of this unique musical experience, students will collaborate with peers from across central Iowa, rehearsing and performing a major choral work in a mass choir setting. In addition, they will take part in a 50-minute clinic and present their own performance as an individual ensemble on the festival program.
The first annual Rising Treble Voices Festival will bring together six central Iowa treble choirs alongside the Iowa State University Orchestra for a collaborative concert at 3 p.m. in CY Stephens Auditorium.
The featured work, “It Is Happiness,” is a choral suite set to the poetry of Mary Oliver by acclaimed composer Joan Szymko.
Participating ensembles include choirs from Waukee, Waukee Northwest, and Webster City High Schools, alongside ISU’s Cantamus and Lyrica treble ensembles and Ames women’s choir, Good Company.
Tickets for the performance are $15, with free admission available for Iowa State University students and youth under 18.
The festival offers a valuable opportunity for student musicians to engage in high-level musical collaboration while showcasing their talent on a prestigious stage.
