Search finds body of Stratford man
The body of a Stratford man was recovered from the Boone Forks Wildlife Management Area Monday.
Timothy Banker, 44, was identified as the deceased. No cause of death has been confirmed, according to a media release from Hamilton County Sheriff Doug Timmons.
There is no threat to the public, he said.
The cause of death will be determined after an autopsy.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office was alerted Sunday by a law enforcement officer of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources who asked for help in locating a man.
Banker’s vehicle had been parked in the parking area of the Boone Forks Wildlife Management Area at 318th Street and Stagecoach Road for an extended period, Timmons said in his media release. That area is about five miles north of Stratford.
“The area was searched, and law enforcement officials were unable to locate the male. This search was then called off due to darkness.”
The following day, Monday, an extensive search of the area by law enforcement was able to locate Banker, who was deceased.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa DNR Law Enforcement, the Iowa State Patrol, Webster County Sheriff’s Office, Ellsworth Jewell Stanhope Police Department, Stratford Fire and Rescue, Hamilton County and Webster County Emergency Management, Webster City and Hamilton County GIS, Hamilton County Engineer’s Office, and Hamilton County Medical Examiner.
