WCTV, SPVG nominated for Upper Midwest Emmy award

Webster City High School’s WCTV and Special Projects Video Group have both been nominated for the Upper Midwest Emmy Foundation’s Student Production Award, according to a recent news release.

The WCTV nomination is for season 24’s episode 604. In addition, SPVG’s coverage of the Webster City versus Fort Dodge volleyball game, as well as coverage of the Webster City versus Hampton-Dumont-CAL girls’ basketball game, received nominations.

Award recipients will be announced on Friday, March 31.

“A big congratulations goes out to our talented and hard-working students for receiving these impressive nominations,” said Dr. Mandy Ross, Superintendent. “These programs are highlights in our school community. Our students put a lot of time and effort into their productions, and it is wonderful to see them recognized in this way.”

WCTV’s episode 604 was directed by Katjia Cortes, while Braxton Flattery assisted as technical director, Luke Holberg anchored alongside Annabelle Hurt, Alexis Brown reported with Sergio Terrones, and Mark Murphy and Austin Priborsky advised.

In both games that led to the SPVG nomination, Flattery was the play-by-play announcer, Holberg was the technical director, while Murphy and Priborsky advised.
