Prom plans on the agenda for board

Board to present contract proposals

In 2020, Webster City Schools, along with others around the country, closed due to the pandemic. With the closure came the cancellation of spring sports, school concerts and the prom.

High School Principal Dan Johnson and prom sponsor Marta Paukert will present the plans for the 2021 prom at Monday night’s school board meeting. The public can join the meeting by logging onto Zoom at 6 p.m. using the meeting ID 897 1446 1376 and the password WCSB38.

In a related matter, the board will consider a request for a prom fundraiser as well a fundraising request from the high school cheerleaders.

Also on the agenda is a hearing on the proposed issuance of approximately $1,920,000 school infrastructure sales, service and use tax revenue bonds. The board is expected to move ahead with the resolution to support the issuance of bonds.

The 2021-2022 school calendar will also be reviewed by the board.

The board will present its initial proposal for the Webster City Education Association and the Webster City Educational Services Association. Both associations presented proposals at the last meeting.

A public hearing on the Fiscal Year 2022 budget is expected to be set for March 22 at 6 p.m.

A cooperative agreement for field experience and student teaching placements with the University of Northern Iowa and a special education contract for student services with Des Moines Community School District are also expected to be reviewed Monday night.

A contract recommendation for Tiffany McConnelee for the Pleasant View Elementary Principal position and for Tyler McCubbin, high school social studies, are also on the agenda. The board will also receive the resignation of Bob Josten for the JV boys basketball position.
