Mulberry Center programs for 2020 revealed

Free history presentations to be offered at WBP

A series of history programs will once again be presented at the Mulberry Center Church, located in Wilson Brewer Park, beginning in June and running through the summer and early fall.

Carolynn Miller who coordinates the programming at the church, announced the schedule at the Tuesday meeting of the Wilson Brewer Historic Park Committee.

The programs begin on June 6 with Craig Bishop presenting a presentation entitled, “Billy Sunday: Baseball Evangelist.” The program will begin at 1 p.m. On July 11, Russ Fry will bring the presentation, “Chief Black Hawk’s Final Resting Place” at 1 p.m. Storyteller and author Darcy Maulsby will share the story of “Iowa’s Lost History from the Titantic” on July 25 at 1 p.m.

Lee Wymore will present “George Custer’s Trail to the Little Bighorn” on Aug. 22 at 1 p.m. Humanities Iowa presenter Sara Robinson will offer the program “Hear Iowa Veteran’s Stories in their Own Words” on Sept. 19 at 1 p.m. Closing out the season will by Humanities Iowa presenter David Connon who will share a presentation entitled “Iowas Who Fought Against the Union” on Oct. 10 at 1 p.m.

Miller announced that the church had been booked for four weddings this summer, with a possible fifth ceremony that might be scheduled.
