Mid-June brings more adult events to the Kendall Young Library
The Kendall Young Library offers more events in the month of June, in addition to the Adult Daytime book club. The following events are open to all interested.
The Adult Evening Book Club discussion will be on the book “Great Big Beautiful Life” by Emily Henry. Books are available at Kendall Young Library. We will be meeting on Wednesday, June 10 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. to discuss this book.
Crafting with Emily Mallory(Age 12+) – Join us for an evening of learning the art of the iris folding technique with Emily Mallory at the library on Monday, June 22 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. She will be walking through the steps to fold garden gnomes. This event is available to patrons age 12+ and no registration is required.
All Day Adult Craft-A-Thon – Tuesday, June 23 from 11:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. Kendall Young Library is offering a time to stop in, craft and enjoy being creative. This adult event will offer crafts including clay bead bracelets, watercolor bookmarks, picture frame makeovers, book bedazzling, pipe cleaner flowers, and the chance to Fancy Your Flowerpot (for the summer contest). Bring a friend and craft on your schedule!
Adult Plant BINGO – Join us to test your luck with Adult Plant BINGO at Kendall Young Library. Patrons can win small plants on Tuesday, June 30th, 5:30-7 p.m.! This twist on traditional BINGO is free and brings fun prizes. Make plans to bring your friends.
SPICE Club – Kendall Young Library invites you to add some spice to your life with the KYL Spice of the Month Club. We will be featuring Shichimi Togarashi starting on Friday, June 5. Samples will be available throughout the month while supplies last.
This is a fun way to explore different cultures and flavors. Each month there will be a featured herb or spice. A limited number of kits will be available each month with a small sample, information about the spice, and a couple recipes to try.
Sneak peak at July: More summer events will be coming in July. Along with the monthly book clubs and Do It Yourself activities, we will have a morning called “Seniors Share” on July 9 from 10:30-11:30 a.m.. In addition, on Saturday, July 18, with the Friends of Kendall Young Library, we will be hosting Darcy Maulsby, an Iowa Storyteller. Following her 5:30 p.m. presentation, there will be a Farm-to-Table ticketed dinner. The dinner will be a fundraiser hosted by Friends of Kendall Young Library. These events are open to anyone who would like to attend.
