WC school board OKs debt service payment
The Webster City school board approved the debt service payment and a substitute pay increase at its regular meeting Monday.
The board approved the debt service general obligation bond interest payment in the amount of $176,681.
Also approved was an increase to the substitute pay rate schedule by adding an accompanist pay rate of $20 per hour with a maximum of 110 hours annually.
Tyler Mosbach was approved as assistant seventh grade boys basketball coach.
The board approved the Protective Equipment Fund transfer totaling $976.
An education contract with Ames Community School District was approved for student services not provided within the WC district.
Fundraising requests were approved for: the Middle School Chorus to sell Butter Braids; WC High School to host a Kids Karnival; and the WCHS Spanish Club to sell cut-out sugar cookies.
Superintendent Dr. Mandy Ross presented options for the one-time reorganization monies. For the current year, monies will be set aside for cash flow purposes, to help with the cost of air conditioning in the elementary buildings and for development of a new district web site. Portions of the money will be earmarked as an emergency fund.
The board approved voting for Todd Lundgren as the Prairie Lakes AEA Director District Number 7 Representative.
District Director Rich Stroner reported on successful VAeterans Day programs at both the middle school and high school and expressed his thanks to middle school teacher Lisa Jorgenson for her work in the last 22 years and to Pat Farley, high school assistant principal for his efforts for organizing the program for the past two years. Ross also expressed her gratitude to all veterans for their service to the country.
Ross presented the board with copy of the letter of support which was sent to the Career Ag Academy.
Ross expressed her thanks to residents of the Webster City CSD for passing the PPEL on Nov. 4. She also noted that at the Dec. 9 meeting, the sitting school board will adjourn and then the newly elected board will be seated.
The meeting adjourned at 5:40 p.m. The next regular meeting will be held on Monday, Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. at the School Administration Office.
