Seven groups named as grant finalists

Televised presentations set for July 6

Seven Webster City area organizations were named as finalists for the next round of Hotel/Motel Tax Grants and will give presentations on their prospective projects.

The H/M Tax Commission met June 15 to review the applications. Those selected as finalists included the Avenue of Flags, the Izaak Walton League, the City of Webster City/ISU Extension, the Hamilton County Exposition, Legacy Learning Boone River Valley, Webster City Community Theatre and the Wilson Brewer Historic Park.

Two other organizations, ACE Community Center and Briggs Woods Convention Center, submitted applications but were not selected as finalists.

Representatives of the seven finalists will make televised presentations on July 6 beginning at 6:30 p.m. with the final recommendations from the commission to be submitted on Monday, July 10.

The commission will present the recommendations to the City Council for approval at the July 17 meeting.

Prior to submitting a grant application, applicants attended a mandatory training session at city hall.
