First Impressions committee will meet Thursday

A final report of the statewide evaluation of the Webster City community will be shared with members of the First Impressions committee, a committee organized by the Webster City Area Chamber of Commerce. The report will include strengths and weaknesses visitors found during the summer months when they came to Webster City. Their impressions and experiences should highlight areas which the community can then address. Next steps and an action plan will be the focus of the group on Thursday. They will be meeting at noon at the Hamilton County Conservation office.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Training to be held Saturday

Volunteers who are willing to assist other taxpayers with their annual income taxes can be trained this Saturday at the Hamilton County Extension office. The Extension office is located at 311 Bank St. in Webster City. This training prepares individuals with the skills needed to serve as a volunteer for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Barb Wollan will lead the training. Ely receives scholarship from Iowa Honey Producers Association

The Iowa Honey Producers Association has announced that Evan Ely has been accepted into the Youth Beekeeping Scholarship Program for 2026. The program is designed to support young people who want to gain hands-on experience raising bees, managing hives and marketing honey. The Iowa Honey Producers Association is a nonprofit organization that has been active since 1912, working to bring beekeepers in Iowa together, promote good practices, and educate the public about the value of honey bees in pollination and agriculture. Wester City Parks & Recreation Commission meets Thursday

The Webster City Parks and Recreation meeting will be held at Fuller Hall on Thursday starting at 5 p.m. The meeting will be held in the Samson Room at Fuller Hall, which is located at 625 Bank St. On the agenda are reports from Fuller Hall and their budget, park projects update, the East Twin Parks concrete and plumbing bid specs and the Fuller Hall recreation programs. The public is invited to attend and may address the commission for five minutes at the opening of the meeting.

Cornhole tournament on Saturday

A cornhole tournament will be held at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds Expo on Saturday. The Hamilton County Fairgrounds are located at 1200 Bluff St. in Webster City. The tournament is organized by Terry Smith and the Scenic City Baggers. Registration must be done in advance through the ScoreHolio app/online. On Saturday, all participants must be signed in from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. with the first toss at 11 a.m.
