Beacon of Hope hosts fundraiser 'Night of Hope' Saturday

The Beacon of Hope Men’s Shelter will host its annual “Night of Hope” fundraiser on March 21 at 6 p.m. at the Historic Phillips Auditorium, 1015 Fifth Ave. N., in Fort Dodge. The featured speaker for the event will be Van Harden, a retired personality from WHO Radio, inventor, author, speaker, and Bible teacher.

WC Parks and Recreation Commission meets Thursday

The Parks and Rec Commission will meet Thursday at 5:15 p.m. at Fuller Hall. Fuller Hall is located at 625 Bank St. in Webster City. The meeting will be held in the Sampson Room. On the agenda are the budgets, all park updates, the East Twin Park shelter, recreation programs and sponsorships. There will also be an update on the outdoor pool. The next meeting will be on April 16.

CORRECTION: Hamilton County public hearing for maximum tax levy set for 6 p.m. on March 25

The public hearing for the Hamilton County maximum levy is an evening meeting, which will be at 6 p.m. on March 25. After that first hearing there will also be a hearing for the Assessors budget and levy. To be clear, once the proposed property tax levy is published for the March 25 hearing, the levy amount cannot be increased; it can only be lowered from that point forward. Budgets for the county cannot be finalized prior to this public hearing. Other entities may approved their budgets during their public hearings.

Webster City Community Blood next Thursday

The next community blood drive will be held from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Van Diest Medical Center Clinic board room, 2350 Hospital Drive. Appointments are encouraged by calling 800-287-4903. Walk-ins are welcome. Donate blood and receive a Scooters cookie plus a 20% coupon off in the hospital gift shop.

Third Thursday Coffee to be at Appliance Plus next week

The Webster City Area Chamber of Commerce invites the community and business members to the Third Thursday Coffee event for March. This will be held from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Appliance Plus & Mattress, located at 200 Red Bull Division Drive.
